In 1999, I was a fresh face out of orthodontic school ready to start my own practice. Where do I start? This was the first question that I had to ask myself. I thought that if I wanted to build an orthodontic office then maybe I should talk to someone who has done it before. So, I was walking aimlessly around the AAO trying to figure out how I was going to build this first office. That is when I first met Joyce Matlack, and my aimless journey was over. For a young kid, she was exactly what the doctor ordered. Her knowledge and expertise guided me through the complicated building process. Her insights and experience helped me avoid many pitfalls that I wasn’t even aware of. That office space looks great and has served me well over the past ten years from a start-up practice to one that needed expansion. Last year when I needed to expand and build a second office location, my first phone call was to Joyce. Even with ten years of experience and learning what works and what doesn’t in an orthodontic office, I knew that she would provide valuable insight into this new venture.
